The Snook, a highly prized gamefish, can be found in many areas here in the Florida Keys. There are also many different ways that we can catch them. From sight-casting to them on a shallow water flat with a well-placed fly or artificial lure, to using a weighted live baits in our many deep-water channels.
In addition to being excellent table fare, many anglers come here to catch snook because of the species’ great fighting ability. When hooked, they provide the angler with long, powerful runs accented by acrobatic jumps. Snook season is closed for 4-41/2 months a year, so if you plan on sampling a delicious snook dinner, contact me for current closure times. Usually the season closes on December 15 and reopens February 1, and then recloses on June 1 and re-opens September 1. But these times to change periodically. |
